Grace and Abe both have large families — the guest list for their wedding numbered over 200. While Grace and Abe were living and studying in the South, the two medical students chose to get married at a large warehouse-turned-gallery in Brooklyn’s Dumbo district (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). It was the perfect site for an early September celebration, fitting their budget and their young, hip character, replete with a wonderful panoramic view of Manhattan’s skyline. It was also large enough to stage a lavish Hindu wedding ritual and a tea ceremony, alongside a jazz trio and a DJ as the night went on.
As Grace and Abe’s backgrounds are Vietnamese and Indian, respectively, our chef made a few delicious Southern Indian dishes – taking into account that much of Abe’s family is vegetarian – like Vegetable “Ratatouille” with cauliflower, okra and curry leaves, as well as Vietnamese-influenced dishes like Mi Xao Chai with Snow Pea Slivers and Young Bok Choy.
