Here at Saffron 59, we’ll have a full four months of vineyard weddings, ocean-view barbeques and candlelit dinner parties. Under the spreading lime trees, the atmosphere inspires our chefs and exhilarates our bar staff. (Wait staff are harder to impress, usually because they’ve seen it, done it and bought the t-shirt.)
Although a large gathering has a celebratory spirit all of its own, an intimate event can supply a wealth of details and intimacies that can be savored long afterward. At a small, country-style wedding last June in Southampton, our kitchen served cous cous with apricots, pistachios and dill, lemongrass garlic roast leg of lamb with coriander chutney, Krug Champagne cocktails, roast onion tart with caviar and fresh figs, and burnt orange butter cream wedding cake. A glorious day slowly slipped into a wondrous evening.
Of course we are still full steam ahead in the city. Whether you’re planning an anniversary on Park Avenue, a gallery opening in Tribeca, a palm reader with lucky food (longevity noodles and double happiness rice), an Asian Barbecue in the East Village or a tea pairing lecture in Harlem… if you’re entertaining this summer, let Saffron 59 give you a New York spin on the cocktail/dinner party.
